Count
Count is unit to measure the thickness of Cotton or Cotton blended Thread (Yarn). Shirt quality is always measured by its yarn count. Count refer to the length of yarn derived from 1lb of cotton - higher the yarn count, finer the fabric.
Reed (EPI)
This indicates the number of the threads per inch in length side of fabric.
Pick (PPI)
This is indicates the number of threads per inches in width side of fabric. Higher the number of Reed and Pick makes the fabric more dense and compact
2ply
When two threads spin together to make a single thread before weaving the fabric. For example 2 ply 80 means 2 thread of 80's count are spun together to make a single thread
Blended Fabric
When two different raw materials are mix together to make a thread (Yarn) is called blended fabric, e.g. PC means Polyester and Cotton, PV – Poly viscose.
Tear Strength
This parameter determines the value of the strength of the fabric after the processing and finishing. Different fabric treatments reduce and increase the strength of the fabric. It is important to know tear strength of the finished fabric to determine its potential life. e.g., to make a fabric wrinkle free, it is often baked into resin. This treatment directly impacts the strength of the fabric adversely thus, one may find a good wrinkle free nature but the processing may have adversely affected the strength of fabric [due to use of an improperly higher amount of resin]. So, while high degree of wrinkle freeness may be desired, a wrinkle free treatment should not be done at high level at cost of the life of fabric.
Tensile Strength
This is tensile parameter to measure tensile strength as tear one.
CIH Whiteness
This is indicator for the whiteness in the fabric. Higher the number more is the brilliancy of the whiteness. If the CIH is 100, it indicates perfect whiteness in the fabric. We provide CIH whiteness up to 140, resulting in to an extra ordinary whiteness.
DPR’
This is Durable Press Rating which indicates the wrinkle free nature of the fabric. Higher the DPR rate, more the wrinkle free nature of the fabrics. Desirable rate is +2.7.
CRA
Crease Recovery Angel indicates the nature of fabrics to recover the crease.
Seam Slippage
This parameter shows the strength of the garment on the seam joints. If these parameters are not maintained at fabric finishing level, it is quite possible that the fabric may not perform well at the seam joints once the garment is stitched.
Shrinkage %
This indicated that the fabric will shrink at certain percentage after finish or better said the garment will shrink during normal home/laundry wash. Normal parameters are 1 to -3.0%. If shrink percentage exceeds this limit, the garment will loose its shape in a few laundry washes.
This section is given to just provide in-depth information of fabric and associated issues with pure intention to make buyer familiar with this various fabric terms.
